Every year on August 30, Kazan celebrates the City Day. Traditionally, many different events are held, combining modern cultural trends and national traditions. The festival was beloved by the residents and guests of the city due to holding of various street walks, performances of famous artists of the variety, festivals of folk culture, Tatar cuisine, opening of socially significant objects, museums and thematic exhibitions. This year the residents and guests of the capital were presented with a unique musical and theatrical show “Voices of Kazan” in the open air, which became a place of self-expression of dance and music groups of the republic.

The festival of new Tatar culture “Tat Cult Fest – 2021”, timed to the Year of Native Languages and National Unity, which brought together 16 music groups of Russia with 16 media artists and graphic designers, was held on the territory near the Kul Sharif Mosque. More than 21,000 spectators came to see the unique events of the festival. The main feature of the event was collaborations, which allowed the musicians to choose their own audience. This musical experiment was the first in the Republic of Tatarstan. The program of the festival included recording tracks, lectures, musical jam and audiovisual performances in the multimedia and electronic stage of the festival, organized for the first time in the renovated office building, an object of cultural heritage of Federal significance at the end of the XVIII century. The stage “Tat Cult Fest – 2021” brought together the best representatives of alternative music, the Tatar indie scene and outstanding Russian musicians.

The key event of the VI International Festival-competition of folk song and dance art was “Kazan towel – 2021”. The festival helps preserve the uniqueness of folk song and dance art and reveals the diversity of cultures of peoples living on the planet. The festival competition has become an excellent platform for the exchange of experience of talented performers, friendship and mutual understanding between peoples. This year, the event brought together participants from more than 30 regions of Russia, countries of the near and far abroad, and the total number of participants was more than 4,000 people. A key feature of the festival was the absence of age restrictions for participants, as well as the fact that the festival was attended by the leading groups of amateur and professional performers, students and graduates of creative schools.
