On August 27, 2020, the art residence “Sozvezdie-Yoldyzlyk” (eng. “Star Constellation”) opened in the historical building of the Alafuzov Theater in Kazan. The opening ceremony was attended by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov.

The new platform is designed to solve not only the issue of employment of graduates of creative universities and colleges, but also is a professional platform where young people from all over the republic can implement their creative projects, joining forces to create a worthy product that will become part of the cultural brand of Tatarstan. Every year, 70-90 thousand children are involved in “Sozvezdie-Yoldyzlyk” festival movement.  The new art residence is a worthy gift for citizens, another point on the cultural map of Kazan.

Thanks to the appearance of the festival’s art residence, the most important problem of creating new jobs for creative youth who have been trained by the best masters of culture in Russia and the world is being solved. It is important that now there is a stage where young talents can rehearse and achieve serious results, demonstrate success. Moreover, creative youth from the districts of Tatarstan will also be able to present their works in the Theater.

The need to create a platform for the development of modern forms of stage art was formulated by leading cultural figures of Tatarstan back in 2006. The building of the Alafuzov Theater (it is more than 110 years old), which is a historical monument of national significance, was reconstructed and transferred to “Sozvezdie-Yoldyzlyk” festival movement. The new youth theater is equipped with one of the best recording studios in the region, as well as a video studio and other specialized equipment. The priority of the art residence will be such popular genres as musical, theater, audio and video production. The capacity of the hall will be 300 seats, where folding chairs auditorium as well as lifting and lowering the orchestra pit are available (provides versatility scenes in several configurations).

The model of the art residence suggests the possibility of active cooperation with creative universities and colleges (including Shchukin School and GITIS), the formation of a unique acting school. It is planned that the performances will be staged in two official languages of the Republic of Tatarstan-Russian and Tatar.

The festival “Sozvezdie-Yoldyzlyk”, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, is held in Tatarstan under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and under the auspices of the Russian Commission for UNESCO.
