hell:wach

Hannover

hell:wach is a concert experience initiated and organised by a hannover-based orchestra called “Orchester im Treppenhaus” (stair-case orchestra). They have initiated a 29-hour-classical music-marathon with musicians from Hannover and the region.

The unique thing in these corona-virus affected times is that they have brought together many musicians from Hannover’s wide classical scene, orchestra musicians from the opera house and the radio symphony orchestra, baroque ensembles, students from the Hannover music university as well as self-employed musicians and ensembles. Over 250 musicians from Hannover are involved in this unique project. The city council has agreed to fund part of this project, the audience is asked to donate money for the concert.

The orchestra musicians that have a contract and regular income have agreed to abstain from taking any money for this project. The musicians involved will perform in their own ensembles or especially created ensembles with great programmes.
